Christopher F. Meindl, Associate Professor of Geography and Director of the Florida Studies Program at
USF St. Petersburg, has been recognized for his outstanding work. His new book, ‘Florida Springs: From Geography to Politics and Restoration,’ recently won Gold in the Florida Nonfiction category. The book sheds light on the ongoing challenges of restoring Florida’s springs. It
is something that scientists, policymakers and business leaders struggle with when
trying to understand the cause of the problems that Florida Springs has to face. Jason
Evans, Executive Director of the Stetson University Institute for Water and Environmental
Resilience, praised the book, stating: “Provides a good synthesis of existing knowledge
and past works about springs, telling a timely story of what we know about—and have
tried to do for—Florida springs to date. This is a very useful and important story.”
Dr. Meindl’s book is a great addition for anyone who wants to contribute to the discussion
on how to protect and restore Florida Springs.

Congratulations Dr. Meindl!
